Hi, my name is Tarryn Marie & I'm 11-years old.   I live in Florida with my Mom, Dad, older brother (Brandon), younger sister (Skyler), our cat (Phoebe) and 2-dogs (Sierra and Cow).  In February of 2010 I was admitted to the hospital for almost a week; I was poked with lots of needles and had lots of tests done; then I was told I had type 1 diabetes.  I was scared; I didn't know what diabetes was or what was going to happen to me.  My doctor gave me a book to read & she answered my questions.  I learned all about my pancreas; how it works & what happens when it stops working.

Over the past 2-years I've learned so much - what I can eat, what I can't eat; how to poke my fingers & test my sugar level 8 to 10 times a day; how to draw my insulin & inject myself 2 to 3 times a day.  Let me tell you, this is not fun, but I don't have a choice - I have to watch what I eat, test my blood sugar, and inject myself every day for the rest of my life, or UNTIL THEY FIND A CURE FOR DIABETES !!

Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund ("JDRF") is a non-profit funder of the best diabetes research in the world.  On April 14, 2012 JDRF is sponsoring a 5k "Walk to Cure Diabetes" in my city.  My family & friends are working hard to raise money for our team donation.  My Nana recently contacted Terri Decker, the owner The Silver Dragonfly, about helping with our team fundraiser.  Miss Terri has agreed to help by creating a beautiful, sterling silver charm in the shape of the JDRF sneaker, along with other items for our team to sell and 25% of our sales will be donated to JDRF on behalf of TEAM BAILES !!   Thank you Miss Terri, you're the best !!!
